Accessing the Class

How Do I Register for a Class

You have two options: You can purchase an individual series of classes, or you can become a subscriber. As a subscriber, you  pay a low monthly fee -- 16.95 -- and you get access to all upcoming classes. You save a lot by becoming a subscriber, and you get a bunch of extras too -- like a free copy of Rabbi Fohrman's new e-book, and discounts on tapes from jewishexplorations.com.

To subscribe to the weekly classes, click on the "Subscriptions" tab at the top of the site, then, click on the "paypal subscribe" button which you will see on the page that appears.

To sign up for an individual series, click on the "Online Course Offerings" tab at the fop of our website, and then click on the course you'd like to sign up for. Place the course in your "shopping cart", and then check out. When you are asked about shipping, make sure to click the option for "online class; no shipping required".

What Happens After I Check Out?
You will get a welcome email from us in a day or two. In that email, we will ask you to fill out a short student survey so we can better tailor the classes to your background and needs. Once you complete the survey, your registration is complete

Will I Need a Password to Get Into the Class?
Yes. We will email you your password before the start of the class. You will use it to access all the elements of the class, including lectures, powerpoints, discussion boards, etc.

How Often Are Lectures Posted?
Every week, on Sunday. You can listen to them, though, any time you'd like to, although we recommend that you listen sometime during the week is posted, so that you can keep up with the discussion on the discussion boards.

Do I have to listen at my computer?
No. You have the option to either "stream" the lecture from your computer, or download it. Once you download it, you can burn the lecture onto a CD as a standard audio file, which you can listen to on your home or car stereo.

How Do I burn a CD?
There are lots of ways. One way to do it would be to download the free itunes software from Apple (search google.com for "itunes download". Once you have that installed, its a cinch to take any audio file and create a "music CD" out of it that will play on a standard stereo.

Will I be able to follow the course if I don't go to the discussion boards?
The backbone of the course is the series of lectures. The rest of the material augments your experience and hopefully enriches it. Its great to participate in the "class discussion", but if you can't, you can't.

How will Rabbi Fohrman interact with the class?
He will join the discussion boards and respond to the questions, reflections and ideas being posted there. Sometimes he'll respond in writing; at other times, he will respond by posting a short audio commentary, 5 minutes or less in length.
