The Hoffberger Foundation for Torah Studies, Inc., was founded in December, 1999, as a private non-profit 501(c)(3) operating foundation whose purpose is to teach and inspire Jews, through an intensive and in-depth study of the Torah and other Hebrew texts, to take Judaism seriously as a system of thinking and living that can profoundly enrich their lives. The Foundation subsequently became a support foundation of The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore, Inc.
Rabbi David Fohrman serves as scholar in residence for the Institute for Text Study, a division of the Hoffberger Foundation for Torah Studies (other divisions of the foundation will be developing a web presence soon). Prior to his work for the foundation, Rabbi Fohrman served as a senior editor and writer for the Schottenstien Edition of the Talmud, a 72 volume elucidation of the Babylonian Talmud published by ArtScroll Mesorah.
Through his work for the foundation, Rabbi Fohrman teaches extensively on Biblical Themes, running courses at Johns Hopkins University, and at a variety of homes and synagogues. Recently, the foundation has begun to bring his work to a wider, global audience through several initiatives, including a new series of online classes, and the launching of a book series.
